lgRound.gif About Youth4em

Youth4em Community Action Group was the idea of PC Gary Hall formally the Anti - Social Behaviour and Hate Crime Officer on the Dudley South Policing area covering Halesowen, Kingswinford, Stourbridge along with Lye and Cradley.

The idea was created due to the the area suffering from a high volume of Anti - Social Behaviour and underage drinking within the said areas. It was also created to encourage the young people to engage with the local Police, PCSO's and area neighbourhood teams, as there was little or no engagement at that time. Officers from the teams visited local parks in the area and engaged with a young people who expressed their concerns about the graffiti on the recreational equipment and the fencing along with litter being dropped and the issue of other young people visiting the park from other areas and smoking drugs such as cannabis.

The young people engaged at that time offered to clean the park and formed a partnership with the Police and the local authority that was how Youth4em Community Action Group began. The Police in that area donated the first £5000 to fund the project and since that day the group has grown from 2 members to 200 members.

The Youth4em are now split into smaller neighbourhood groups and work happily alongside neighbourhood teams and the neighbourhood officers. The members are not asked for information on crimes or on people who commit crime, the respect groups formed concentrate soley on making their area a better place to live and showing community respect. We have application forms on line at on the contact page of this site. Parental consent forms are required to be signed by the legal guardian of the joiner. Our age range at the moment is that of 11 to 19 yrs.

The Youth4em website was created and became popular with the young people as a form of communication amongst the group as well as a message board and calendar for forthcoming events. The Youth4em Group have been engaged in community respect jobs such as Litter picking, visiting the elderly in residential homes and serving tea and cakes, painting over or removing graffiti from local deprived areas and conducting some presentations to other groups.

The groups have been given rewards for their hard work, such as being taken on educational visits or fun days; they have even put on shows for the local community. If you are interested in the Police and the work they do or fancy a career with the police then we can point you in the right direction.
